Everything you ever wanted to know about Yelp from Yelp Charlotte herself

You’ve probably used Yelp at least once in your life. Maybe you were looking for a new restaurant, or a repair shop, or to see what time the closest brewery opens.

But you might not know much about how Yelp actually works. So we invited Charlotte’s Yelp Community Manager Nikki Wolfe to join us on this week’s CharlotteFive podcast to give us a peek behind the Yelp curtain.

We talked about all aspects of Yelp: How it works, the negative reviews (not as many as you’d think), how restaurants are not the most popular category (seriously), what it means to be a Yelp Community Manager, and Wolfe’s favorite hidden gems in Charlotte.

But this was probably our most … free-flowing … conversation on the CharlotteFive Podcast, meaning we talked about a lot of other stuff, like: Fried chicken, the election, the Valencia Instagram filter, strip clubs, LoSo and starting a band. Let’s just say producer Richard Brooke had his hands full when he edited this one. (I’m writing this before listening to the edited version of the podcast, so if you don’t hear us talking about one of those things you’ll just have to imagine it and wonder forever what we said.)

Look, we recorded this on Election Day and this election has been stressful, so we wanted to have a little fun. Mission accomplished.

Other things discussed on this week’s C5 Podcast:

– What it’s been like living in a swing state in this crazy election cycle.

– My podcast challenge with @TheTrolleyWalk, which benefits SHARE Charlotte.

– What you should be doing this weekend, according to Sarah.
