10 things we’re thankful for in Charlotte
Thanksgiving is a time to stuff your face with turkey and/or tofurkey. It’s a time to get together with family — and maybe have some conversation segues lined up. It’s a time to be thankful for the place you call home.
10 things we’re thankful for in Charlotte:
On Katie’s list:
(1) The Vin Master and Foxcroft Wine Co. in South End and Dilworth, respectively. I rely on their wine selection when I’m desperately in need of gift inspiration. My motto for the holiday season: “When in doubt, buy wine.”
(2) Takeout Gang Panang with tofu at Thai Taste. Spicy level four never lets me down.
(3) Ely Portillo’s daily shot of Crescent Stonewall Station. I like to keep an eye on the progress of the new Whole Foods location, set to be here for our Thanksgiving 2017 shopping chaos.

(4) The Trader Joe’s at Piper Glen in South Charlotte. The parking experience is, without fail, mellower than the one at Metropolitan. (BTW: Here’s how to survive at The Met.)
(5) The sunrise on our skyline.
On Corey’s list:
(6) Birdsong’s Higher Ground IPA — my favorite beer in Charlotte. (And, this time of year, also the MexiCali Stout.)
(7) People doing cool and inspiring stuff. My favorite part of this job is getting to meet passionate people doing amazing things, like Toussaint Romain, Jamal Tate, Rodney Tucker and Shane Windmeyer, Shannon Binns, James Ford and many, many others.
(8) The “American Crunch” burger at The Liberty.
(9) People doing weird stuff in Charlotte, like brewing beer on a NASCAR engine or posting signs about tears in the space time continuum. I love it when Charlotte gets weird.
(10) The Hornets, for actually having a good start to the season, unlike another pro team in Charlotte.
What are you thankful for in this city?
