17 holiday markets you must shop in December

It’s true — even the most well-intended of us still have some Christmas shopping to get done.  And with Christmas just a few weeks away, what better time than the present?

In case you missed some of the aforementioned markets going on this season, these ought to get you through your last bit of shopping. Grab your naughty and nice lists and get the rest of your shopping done in style, all while supporting some of the best vendors and events Charlotte has to offer.

Sip & Shop

Dec. 8, 15, 22

If you missed the first few rounds, not to worry!  The Sip N’ Shop at 7th Street Public Market still has three Thursdays left for your local shopping needs.  Grab a glass of wine at Assorted Table or a beer at Tank’s Tap and peruse.

NoDa Company Store

Dec. 9

After having just celebrated its one-year anniversary, NoDa Company Store is hosting a Holiday Pop-Up.  Everything Scott Lindsley and Joey Hewell touch seems to turn to gold, so I wouldn’t miss this opportunity.

Weihnachtsmarkt

Dec. 9-10, 16-17

For two more weekends, OMB will be transformed into a traditional German market.  Known across the region for brewing traditional German beers, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery follows suit with this annual market, which features gifts, baked goods and beer.

VTGCLT Pop

Dec. 9-21

After such a successful few years of seasonal markets, it’s no wonder Amy Herman has decided to set up shop for a more prolonged duration.  For those who couldn’t make it to the Winter Market, consider this your Christmas Miracle. With various events and workshops, there will be plenty to see and do the rest of the month.

Crafts & Culture

Dec. 10

Craft beer and arts and crafts seem to be making a big partnership in Charlotte this year.  Lenny Boy Brewing will be hosting its first holiday market with 20 artisan vendors, acoustic music, newly tapped beer and kombucha as well as a cornhole tournament.  Stop by for a great Saturday afternoon.

CLTure Bazaar

Dec. 10

CLTure and Armada Skate Shop will be hosting a music and fashion bazaar at Snug Harbor. The event will have a mini-market, music, food trucks and vintage arcade games provided by Abari Game Bar. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here.

Midwood Market

Dec. 10, 17, 24

Plaza Midwood is no stranger to supporting local businesses.  This outdoor market features artisans, performers and musicians. The market will be set up for the remaining Saturdays in December leading up to Christmas, with the 17th featuring Bunny Welsch of Henna Charlotte.

Common Market Pop-up

Dec. 10

Aligning with Midwood Market, Common Market Plaza Midwood will be hosting Eagle X Arrow, Good Grief Vintage and MRVN supply. This group of talented ladies puts together a great assortment of wares from vintage, to leather, to one-of-a-kind provisions.

NoDa Eclectic Marketplace

Dec. 10

With just one market left for 2016, you won’t want to miss this lovely outdoor pop-up shop located behind Smelly Cat Coffeehouse and NoDa Company Store. Stop by for a unique shopping experience and be sure to head around the corner to Ruby’s Gifts and Pura Vida while you’re out.

Girl Tribe Pop-Up

Dec. 10

I’ve got to admit — this market excites the feminist in me. With 60+ women-owned businesses, Sugar Creek Brewing is hosting what is sure to be one of Charlotte’s largest women-centric vendor events.  With wine and beer on tap and donut vendors, this is a great way to support your local Girl Tribe.

10 a.m.-6 p.m. (VIP $5 entry 10 a.m.-noon), Sugar Creek Brewing, 215 Southside Dr.

Community Christmas Market

Dec. 10

Hosting its first-ever Christmas Market, Mouzon United Methodist Church will have local food, arts and crafts vendors. Perfect for the whole family, it is rumored the Big Man himself will be there.

Charlotte Catholic Christmas Village

Dec. 10

This family-friendly event supports the Charlotte Catholic High School mission trip fund. There will be 40 vendors onsite as well as BBQ and balloon animals.

Winter Wonderland

Dec. 10-11

Located at the Wise Acres Organic Farm, this event covers all the quintessential holiday leanings — sleigh rides, vendors, food trucks and Santa. There will be small fees for sleigh rides, train rides, Santa visits and other activities.

Starving Artist Market

Dec. 11

As the last market of the year, and right before Christmas, you won’t want to miss the Charlotte Art League’s pop-up shop. There will be 20 local vendors present.  Pet supplies, pottery and chocolate- need we say more?

Finders Keepers Market

Dec. 11

NoDa Brewing continues to host local vendors with itslast holiday market of the year. Grab an award-winning beer, a meal from the food truck and meander through some of Charlotte’s most well-known vendors.

American Made Market

Dec. 17, 18

This event features American made clothing and accessories, as well as a musical performance Saturday night by Caleb Caudle. Many artisans will be creating their goods onsite, as a demonstration of the often forgotten side of US manufacturing – the hand-made artisan.

Open Studio Sale

Dec. 18

QC Family Tree’s Free Space Studio will be hosting a pottery exclusive sale.  This event will benefit the West Charlotte neighborhood of Enderly Park.  There will be handmade and hand-glazed coffee mugs, nativities, Christmas ornaments and more.
