Yet another restaurant delivery service launches in Charlotte
Another option for hungry Charlotte residents who don’t want to leave the house: An on-demand delivery service called DoorDash launched in Charlotte Wednesday.
DoorDash says its service is available via Android or iOS app, and online at DoorDash.com. It delivers from 250 area restaurants, including American Burger Company, Reid’s Fine Foods and Craft Tasting Room and Growler Shop.
The delivery fee for all Charlotte restaurants will be just $1 for new DoorDash customers at the service’s launch, with no order minimums, the startup said.

Charlotte is DoorDash’s 23rd city. The company was founded in 2013 by Stanford University students and uses contracted workers to deliver food from popular local restaurants for a flat fee of $4-$7.
“We’re excited that local restaurants can benefit from our data-driven="driven" logistics platform so that more customers than ever can access their favorite restaurants from Charlotte’s growing dining scene,” said Tony Xu, chief executive officer and co-founder of DoorDash.
The company partners with Taco Bell, so delivery from its local fast food stores will also be available through DoorDash.
DoorDash will have some competition in Charlotte. Doorstep Delivery, a Florida-based delivery service, launched in Charlotte in June, and another San Francisco-based delivery service called Postmates launched in April.
