Staycation in the Queen City

Think about looking at your own city with new eyes and consider a staycation with your girlfriends. Take a Queen City history walking tour with Charlotte Crown Guides or hop on a Segway (or bike) and join Charlotte NC Tours for the afternoon. There’s so much you can do in your own backyard so why not be a tourist in your own city?

Resort destination

Overlooking the Allegheny foothills and a world-class golf course, the Grandover Resort offers amenities that are perfect for the active or relaxation-craving guest. It has a vast number of activities including tennis and golf clinics, a luxurious spa and five restaurants and lounges including Di Valletta, an Open Table Diner’s Choice winner.

Become a beach bum

Sand in between your toes — check! Sunscreen and magazines — check! Just add giggles with your girlfriends to make this the perfect getaway for you and your best buds. Charlotte is strategically located near some of the best beaches so head to Folly Beach for a kayaking excursion, or Virginia Beach for a dolphin-watching cruise,  or maybe Myrtle Beach for a fishing trip.

Adventure in Asheville

This cool city boasts fine shopping and dining and will leave you wanting to see what else it has to offer. You and your friends can enjoy a meal at Early Girl Eatery or Tupelo Honey Café and shop till you drop at Virtue, Frock or L.O.F.T. And no visit to Asheville is complete without a visit to the Biltmore Estate, an 8,000-acre architectural masterpiece.

Wine & dine in Wilmington

Truly a foodie’s dream, the Wilmington Food and Wine Festival includes more than 12 restaurants and 24 wine distributors paired with mouth-watering food. The four-day extravaganza kicks off with a Kentucky Derby themed VIP cocktail party (Mint Juleps, anyone?) and ends with the Bubbles, Brews and Street Eats event.

Need a break from the festival? You and your friends can visit historical and cultural attractions or simply relax at one of the area beaches, Carolina, Kure or Wrightsville. Trying to decide which beach to try? Check out Wilmington and Beaches CVB’s beach cam that gives you a bird’s eye view.

Take it to the mountaintop

Grab the girls and “rough it” through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park offers 800 miles of trails for hiking, exploration and plenty of sightseeing as well as photo opportunities along the park’s scenic routes. You can choose to stay at one of the campgrounds like Cades Cove or a nearby hotel like the Glenstone Lodge.

Chill in a bed and breakfast

Book several rooms at the Morgan and Wells Bed & Breakfast in Shelby and have a girlfriend takeover. Everyone will enjoy the small town ambiance, delicious fare by Chef Fred Reeves and Southern hospitality that caters to each guest. The quaint place includes rooms with wrap-around porches (great for girl talk) and original vintage details. Want to venture out? Consider taking in a show at the Don Gibson Theater or having a brew at New Grass Brewing Co.
