Start your holiday shopping now: Pop-up seasonal sales to shop

’Tis the season to empty your wallet. From holiday parties to gifts, spending a little more than usual is inevitable this time of year. Lucky for you, we’ve found a few options popping up around town that will let you avoid the annoying crowds of the malls, support your talented local sellers and, in some especially glorious cases, drink beer while you shop. Now there’s something we can all feel merry about.

Studio C Warehouse Sale

What: This sample sale features 25,000 square feet of notebooks, binders, backpacks, totes, tablet cases and more from Charlotte-based Studio C (formerly Carolina Pad). And they’re all at incredibly low prices — as in, memo books for 50 cents, clutches for $2 and messenger bags for $10.

Why: Everything is 75-85 percent off of retail. You could stylishly stuff a stocking for less than $10 here.

When: Nov. 13-14.

Where: 3552 Westinghouse Blvd. (This literal warehouse feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but trust us, it’s worth the drive.)

Vintage Charlotte

What: Local pop-up shop VTG CLT is bringing its wares to the Fillmore for the fourth-annual winter market. More than 60 regional vendors will be selling items from jewelry to soaps to arts and attire. Shoppers will find coffee from The Daily Press, and fare from King of Pops, Juan Taco Truck and Roots Farm Food.

Why: Because supporting local has never been more stylish.

When: Nov. 15 (Admission is free from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but for $5 you can have early access to the goods at 10 a.m.)

Where: The Fillmore Charlotte

South End Bazaar

What: Listen to music from Sinners & Saints and Bless These Sounds Under the City. Eat at Yummi Banh Mi, New Wrap Order, Friendship Trays and King of Pops. And, of course, shop from small local businesses including Stix + Stones, JLC Warehouse, Pure Intentions Coffee, Jodi Helmer Art and modPALEO among others.

Why: Proceeds from the event go to The Isabella Santos Foundation for children with cancer.

When: Nov. 21 (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

Where: C3 Lab

OMB Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market)

What: This German-style South End brewery is holding its fourth annual market in its biergarten on weekends throughout December. It’s designed to model similar German markets, which occur on town squares leading up to Christmas. You’ll find baked goods, crafts and gifts for sale — and, of course, great beer to drink while you shop.

Why: Because plane tickets to Germany are expensive.

When: Dec. 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19 (From 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday).

Where: Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

Hops & Shops

What: Sip craft beer from South End’s Triple C while you peruse gifts from localCharlotte artisans at this special holiday market at Atherton Market. The first 25 shoppers get a free beer. Plus, there will be cooking demonstrations by Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen and coffee from Not Just Coffee during the market.

Why: Not only can you buy your gifts here, but they’ll wrap them as well with donations for the wrapping going to Bee Mighty.

When: December 9 (6 to 9 p.m.)

Where: Atherton Market

Pink Social Girl Tribe Holiday Pop Up

What: When local ladies Sarah Baucom and Carrie Barker created their Facebook group Pink Social Girl Tribe, it was to promote and support cool women doing cool things. What better way to do that than to host an event where those women have the chance to sell their wares? Enter the group’s first holiday pop up featuring vendors offering a variety of items.

Why: Girl power, you guys.

When: Dec. 12 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Where: Sugar Creek Brewing (yes, beer again!)

Brandshop

What: Created by the founders of TheSoGood app, Hillary Crittendon and Laura Martin Mills, this upscale pop-up shop features more than 30 emerging brands from women creators around the country. The event also includes book signings, happy hours and a speaker series.

Why: Crittendon and Mills have an eye for style and some seriously cool connections (top folks from the fashion industry including Ann Mashburn and Laura Vinroot Poole are part of the speaker series).

When: Dec. 11-12 (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the 11th, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 12th).
