3 tips from a personal trainer on how to burn those delicious Thanksgiving calories
Americans on average eat around 3,000 calories of Thanksgiving dinner foods each year, according to The New York Times and American Council On Exercise.
But before your pants become too tight after eating a third helping of stuffing and turkey, we’re here to help you maintain your physique during the holiday season.
Personal trainer Preston Lewis, owner of Lewis Fitness in Dilworth, offers three different ways to burn all those delicious calories. The video below shows you how to perform each routine.
Your turn.
Jump squats
Standing in the same spot, squat your legs so that your knees bend, but not over your feet. Then keep jumping up in the air while landing back in the original spot. Make sure you keep popping out your rear, too, when landing.
Seated sit-ups
To target your core muscles that are probably still filled with gravy, find a bench and raise your knees and your chest together so that you compress your abs.
Burpees
Even though they aren’t everyone’s favorite exercise, burpees really target your core midsection muscles. Start in a squat position, place your hands on the floor and hop back into pushup position, then hop up, lifting your arms, into squat position once more.

Just make sure you digest all of your Thanksgiving food before heading back into the gym. No one wants to see your leftovers in projectile motion while you work out.
