Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson did drugs, got caught
Don’t do drugs. Especially don’t do drugs when your employer — say, the NBA — regularly drug tests.
Al Jefferson apparently never learned this lesson. The Charlotte Hornets center was suspended five games without pay after he failed a drug test.
He’s missed the past five games with a calf injury, and will likely be out several more games. He’ll serve the suspension once he’s healthy.
Jefferson — while saying things like “I’m a man” and “I have to take full responsibility for my actions” and “I have to ask for forgiveness” and “move on” — wouldn’t say what substance caused him to fail the drug test, but a source told the Observer that it was weed.
And this probably wasn’t a first-time thing, either. Based on the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, a five-game suspension likely means that this is his third violation.
So, again: Don’t do drugs, especially if it’s gonna cost you thousands of dollars in missed pay.
Oh, and the Hornets beat the Heat 99-81 last night.
