A new reality dating show just debuted with two familiar faces from the Charlotte area.

Cameron and Ceara McKegney are among the identical twins looking for love in Amazon Prime Video’s “Twin Love.”

From the producers of “Love Island,” “Twin Love” is a social dating experiment that follows the love lives of identical twins and their romantic interests without their siblings.

“With double the fun and drama, the series will discover if their inherent similarities extend to their romantic desires,” Amazon Studios said in a news release. “When separated from their twin brothers and sisters — some for the first time ever — will they pursue the same identical partners? Or will their choices be dramatically different?”

The McKegney twins, born and raised in Charlotte, are the only North Carolina contestants on the show.

“We both ended up being single at the same time, and it was just great timing,” Ceara told CharlotteFive. “We just kind of wanted to do something new, to meet new people and it kind of worked out in our favor toward the end.”

To say the two 25-year-old sisters are similar would be an understatement. In an interview with CharlotteFive, Cameron and Ceara said they’ve always been close growing up, playing the same sports and doing the same activities. Now, they even have the same friend group and both work as models.

“I hate saying we’ve always been each other’s best friends, but we have,” Cameron said. “The only thing that changed really was when we went to college. We went to different colleges and had different friends, but now we’ve all kind of come together and are now one big friend group.”

Despite their tight-knit relationship, the two have different personalities and different types when it comes to dating.

“I’m definitely more upbeat, hyper. I would say, like, loud — obnoxious sometimes — and Cameron is more cool, calm and collected,” Ceara told CharlotteFive.

“I would think that Ceara and I have very different interests in our love lives,” Cameron explained. “From our past relationships, everything has been completely different. I feel like I go for the older guys a little more. Ceara seems to go for the younger guys. Looks wise, they kind of range.”

But when they were approached with the opportunity to find love on this new reality dating show, they took a chance because they’d get to do it together — and because of the little luck they said they had with Charlotte’s dating scene.

“The dating history in Charlotte has been awful … not great,” Cameron said jokingly. “It just seemed like a fun opportunity. Something different. If we met someone that worked with us, that would be even better.”

During the show, hosted by twin sisters Brie Bella and Nikki Garcia, 10 sets of twins are divided into two houses, without any contact with their siblings.

“We didn’t ever know we were going to be separated. That was the huge shock. I didn’t expect that. One of the reasons I was very interested in doing this was because I was going to do this with Ceara,” Cameron said. “So when they told us we were going to be separated, I was shocked … I just remember thinking, ‘I just want to talk to Ceara right now.’”

The twins were all separated during the entire experiment while dating others from the cast. But the two said they learned more about themselves during the process, too.

“I definitely learned a lot about myself,” Ceara said. “You get out of your comfort zone.”

Cameron described herself as the more dominant twin of the two and generally more outspoken when they are together. After the experiment, she says she now sees more of that side within her sister.

“I’m definitely the more emotional twin, I’ve come to find out. It’s weird because growing up, Cameron used to be the more sensitive one,” Ceara said. “Now it’s like flip-flopped.”

While there are dozens of different reality dating shows out right now, the McKegneys think this one definitely stands out among others.

“To see the dynamic of twins, how they interact, what they do. I think that is something that is so cool,” Ceara said. “We think the same, we act the same, we do the same… so when we’re set apart, do we still do that? Or do we act differently because we’re on our own? I think that’s the coolest concept.”

“Twin Love” was released on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 17.
