A first look at photos from the new season of NC-filmed ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’
Cousins Beach is calling with first-look photos of the final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” filmed throughout North Carolina.
After much anticipation, the popular drama series based on the best-selling romance trilogy by Jenny Han will be released this summer.
Described as a “multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship,” the North Carolina-filmed show has become a global hit since its 2022 debut, according to Prime Video.
Here’s a taste of what’s to come this season.
‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ filmed at UNC-Chapel Hill
Though much of the series has been filmed in Wilmington — fictionally known as “Cousins Beach” — the sibling drama saga between Belly and brothers Conrad and Jeremiah also made its way to the Triangle area.
Arguably one of the worst kept secrets from summer 2024, film crews and cast members strolled around Chapel Hill as the University of North Carolina became “Finch College.”
While school wasn’t in session for Tar Heel students, Lola Tung (“Belly”) and Christopher Briney (“Conrad”) were spotted shooting a scene outside the downtown post office and in a gray Range Rover on Franklin Street, The News & Observer previously reported.
‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ streaming
Whether you’re Team Jeremiah or Team Conrad, it seems like the season will have some surprises in store, as Han teased in an interview there might be more to the story than fans think.
“There are going to be surprises,” the author, who is also a show runner and executive producer for the series, told Entertainment Weekly. “There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there’s going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them.”
The official premiere date for the newest season of the show has not yet been announced, but we do know the 11-episode season will be released on Prime Video in July.
