Watch short films and feel New Frequencies at the McColl Center tonight
New Frequencies can be felt right here in Charlotte.
Film buffs rejoice: The McColl Center is streaming short films by Pat O’Neill this Friday. It’s the final installment of the New Frequencies series, which is a set of cutting-edge film and music shows from acclaimed international artists.
You are invited and parking is free!
I recently attended the screening of short films by Janie Geiser, which were beautifully scored and visually arresting little pieces of animation.

//><!--New Frequencies promises to end things with a bang of color and visuals that you won’t see anywhere else. Since O’Neill was a special effects consultant and technician on the “Star Wars” movies, you can bet he’ll deliver.//--><!
Tickets are only $5, and I highly recommend getting one in advance as it might sell out like their previous events.

The people putting this series on are verifiably cool dudes as well.
– The great film encyclopedia and part-time Steve Brule look-alike Ross Wilbanks.
– Local author and culture connoisseur Jeff Jackson.
– Brent Bagwell, jazz aficionado and one half of Ghost Trees.
Charlotte is made better having these kinds of folks to call its own. Establishing a landing pad as well as support for such events can help keep the arts alive.
