Get swole with ClassPass

ClassPass came to Charlotte early this year and the fitness community rejoiced for what has become one of the most popular ways to get svelte, toned, jacked — whatever you’re after — in the Queen City. ClassPass is a monthly membership to a network of upscale, boutique fitness studios spanning from Lake Norman to Pineville and, despite the price tag, I jumped to join. You can’t put a price on fitness, right? Right.

The details:

  • $79 per month
  • 3 visits per gym per month
  • Book online or with the ClassPass app
  • Cancellation fees (hello, accountability!)
  • Pause for a month at any time for $19 with one class included for that month

As a ClassPass member, you’re able to try so many different gyms and find what’s right for you. The scoop on 5 ClassPass gyms:

AIR Aerial Fitness

Driving principles: Intense, effective aerial fitness training. Combine the best workouts with the use of the silk hammocks to make your workout effective, yet fun and motivating.

Best for: Yogis, athletes and rebels looking for a new, adventurous way to work out.

What to bring: Water and a towel. They supply mats and no shoes are necessary.

Calories burned per class: 500-800, depending on the class.

Location: Providence Road, Myers Park

NuBody Studio

Driving principles: Every class is given exceptional personal care. The quality of the classes delivers a safe, stress-free experience with noticeable results.

Best for: Eradicating unwanted jiggle and tightening the body for a strong, lean look.

What to bring: Workout shoes for the mix of TRX training and Pilates Reformer sessions.

Calories burned per class: This is about isometric holds or high intensity. No need to count the cals.

Location: Sharon Road, SouthPark

Carolina Sweat

Driving principles: Form, proper diet, community environment, proper breathing to control heart rate.

Best for: Everyone without a great exercise background. They offer personal training in a group setting.

What to bring: Water and a towel.

Calories burned per class: 500-700, 200-300 afterburn

Locations: Pineville, Matthews and South Boulevard

Xtend Barre

Driving principles: They fuse elements of dance, ballet and Pilates to create an adrenaline-fueled workout that strengthens, lengthens and chisels.

Best for: All ages, genders and fitness levels.

What to bring: Grip socks (available for purchase at the studio) and water.

Calories burned per class: 300-500 calories per 55-minute class

Locations: Dilworth and The Metropolitan

Fast Fit Boxing

Driving principles: Making working out and losing weight fun while building self defense and self confidence.

Best for: All fitness levels.

What to bring: No equipment needed.

Calories burned per class: Anywhere from 800-1,300 calories.

Location: Lake Norman
