Our curated list of the most awesome events and best things to do in Charlotte during the weekend of September 7-10. You’ve worked hard this week, go have a little fun!
(1) Go Greek at the Yiasou Festival.
Thursday-Sunday. $3 admission. 600 East Blvd.
This four-day fest in Dilworth educates the Queen City on the awesomeness of Greek culture. Revel in an abundance of live music, dancing, kids activities, shopping and (of course) food.
(2) Listen at untethered: a Charlotte Storytellers Showcase.
Friday and Saturday, doors open at 7:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m. $10. Free Range Brewing, 2320 N Davidson St.
The Charlotte Storytellers are back at it with “untethered,” their eighth showcase. Listen as the storytellers explore the questions: What keeps you anchored? How do you create the world you inhabit?
(3) Pair bluegrass and BBQ at Fiddle ‘n Pig Shindig.
Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. $10+. 250 Dairy Barn Lane, Fort Mill, S.C.
Fiddle ‘n Pig Shindig unites the Carolinas’ best bluegrass, best BBQ and best brews. Come revel in some of the Carolinas’ richest traditions in a beautiful setting just outside of Charlotte.
(4) Say cheers to Charlotte’s biggest beer festival: Oktoberfest.
Saturday, 12:30-6 p.m. $45+. Symphony Park, 4400 Sharon Road.
CLT’s biggest and most diverse beer festival is back. Spend the day at the 18th Oktoberfest with 5,000 friends, 75+ breweries and delicious food truck fare with proceeds benefiting three charities.
(5) Hit Hangover For Harvey with Salud.
Saturday, 7 p.m.-midnight. 3306 N. Davidson St.
Salud is teaming up with Newgrass Brewing to host a fundraiser to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey. Come out to bid on rare bottles, score brewery merch and drink from five specialty kegs.
