Why Charlotte’s Taste of the Nation is worth the $85 ticket price

There are plenty of ways to spend your charity dollars around town. Here are 3 reasons why I think it’s worth the 85 bucks to go to the Charlotte’s Taste of the Nation this Wednesday night.

Great food

Sample high-end meals from some of the best restaurants in Charlotte. Where else can you grab a lamb chop from Chima Brazilian Steakhouse, fresh salmon from Upstream and pastries from Amelie’s?

The drinks

Need a drink to wash it all down? Check out beers and wine from all around the world. There will even be liquor mixologists and wine sommeliers teaching you how to prepare, mix and pair each drink with the foods you’re eating.

Good cause

The annual tasting event benefits two local charities:

– The “No Kid Hungry” campaign from Second Harvest Food Bank Of Metrolina. It helps to eliminate childhood hunger in Charlotte and around the country.

– Community Culinary School of Charlotte, which trains the unemployed and underemployed.

The details

– Takes place in Two Wells Fargo Center Atrium

– VIP admission starts at $120 and begins at 6 p.m.

– General admission is $85 and begins at 7 p.m.

– Attire is business formal. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes – there will be dancing.
