I’m hesitant to see the 2017 remake of my favorite Disney film, “Beauty and the Beast.” The latest PG-rated flick, directed by Bill Condon and starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans, is big on digital effects, which makes me skeptical. It also incorporates three new songs in addition to the Disney originals, and the controversy surrounding Disney’s first gay character portrayed by Le Fou.

Observer writer Theoden Janes saw the remake in Imax and commented that it would pair nicely with a Bordeaux. You know, because it’s based on a French fairy tale from 1740. He also said Watson and Evans can really sing.

Here’s his 37-second movie review:

Theoden’s bottom line: “The original version is better, but the cool thing about it is it’s good enough that it makes you nostalgic for the old one.”

And that’s a good feeling.
