Things to do

Will Mayobird dethrone Starbucks as top Dilworth coffee hangout?

If you actually go to the Starbucks on East Blvd, order a coffee and then want to sit – you’re kinda screwed. Even though the parking lot makes me want to put my hand in a cheese grater, this place is popping. Startup meetings? Check. Hipsters with earbuds? Check. Corporate peeps doing “career talk” with youngsters? Check. Long story short – it’s freaking packed.

A 4 minute walk down the street is The Mayobird. It’s like that hot chick that moved into town and enrolled in your high school in 11th grade. Nobody really knows about her yet and you may actually have a chance to date her because she’s not part of the cultural infrastructure.

Prediction: Mayobird is about to blow up as THE coffee shop hotspot in Dilworth. It will dethrone Starbucks and they’ll have to open up the Summit Room (attached) to accommodate the volume.

Let’s check out why.

Starbucks on East Blvd is crowded. And, the parking is worth mentioning again, because it’s that bad.

Now, let’s explore the Mayobird. First off, it has a legit parking lot and some decent street parking as well. But, is the inside cozy? Yes.

Packed at 8:26am? Shockingly, no.

Bar area? Yes.

Weird blue sofas and cowhide chair that give it that hip coffee shop vibe? Yes.

Big coffee mugs that have handles (unlike handleless Little Spoon)? Yup.

Dear Starbucks, we hope you enjoyed your Dilworth reign (heck of a run), but you’re about to be dethroned by The Mayobird.
