Chick-fil-A is giving away free coffee all February long. Hot or iced. 12 ounce or 16 ounce. No strings attached – this is legit. Also, if you’re reading this early, Charlotte metro-area Chick-Fil-A restaurants are giving away a free 3-count of Chick-n-Minis this morning (Tuesday, February 3rd 6 am-10:30 am).

I got this in my email:
If you’ve looked at your Twitter or Instagram, you’ll notice that Charlotte is freaking out in excitement.
On the way home yesterday I stopped by the Chick-Fil-A on Woodlawn to get a taste of the freeness (and a small fry because I needed a snack).
I talked to an extraordinarily nice manager lady (I mean she was really nice) about the coffee. She told me that the place is going to go nuts tomorrow with the Chick-n-Mini giveaway.
I order a 12 ounce vanilla iced coffee. I thought it tasted – meh. Then I gave it to my wife and she said “Wow, this coffee tastes great.”
The new Chick-Fil-A coffee PR stuff
The new coffee is a unique blend from THRIVE Farmers. David Farmer (VP of menu strategy and development): “Whether a few more weeks of winter or an early spring, we think our THRIVE Farmers coffee is perfect for any weather. It tastes incredible while also doing good in the world. What better way to let our customers experience it for themselves than to give it away for an entire month?”
Okay, enough with the marketing fluff, talk at me
People love coffee (growing market). Margins are solid (although nowhere near that of tea or soda). Starbucks is killing it and everybody wants in with new premium coffee offerings. Why give it away? Because you have to. Consumers are crazy-habitual when it comes to coffee and to try to break their habit, you need to give away product.
