Start your weekend with opening night of heartwarming Akeelah and the Bee. This play tells the story of how a young girl from an underserved neighborhood overcomes adversity and self-doubt to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $12.

Support the arts and connect to your community at the Mint Museum’s 6th annual Oyster Roast. Play cornhole with new friends and enjoy a low country boil, all-you-can-eat oysters, beer, wine and s’mores. 3-6 p.m. 2730 Randolph Rd. $50 Mint members, $60 non-members.

Start your day with Icecream for Breakfast at Jeni’s Ice cream. Have a coffee floats in a souvenir mug or try a scoop of the newly released Skillet Cinnamon Roll ice cream flavor. Proceeds from this event will benefit Dosomething.org. 1920 Camden Rd. 8 a.m.-noon. Free admission.

Taste the best local craft beer, kombucha, cider and coffee at the Queen City Brewers Festival and see which of your favorites get awarded “Best in Show.” Tastings start at noon and 5 p.m. 800 Briar Creek Rd. $50.

Sunday

Don’t miss closing night of The New Colossus. In this play, 12 actors from around the world tell the story of 12 immigrants traveling to Ellis Island from the year 1864 to today. 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. 430 S. Tryon St. Tickets start at $20.

If the Super Bowl isn’t your thing, celebrate the 4th Annual Puppy Bowl at Lucky Dog Bark & Brew. Bring the pups for a fun party featuring drink specials, a photo booth, raffle items and puppies available for adoption. 1-4 p.m. 2220 Thrift Rd. Free admission.

Monday

Wear red and get moving at Love CLT Fun Run, a 40 minute fun run and walk around uptown Charlotte. Stick around after the run for a self-massage workshop taught by licensed massage therapist Davede Varner and free valentines candy. 6 p.m. 901 S. Kings Dr. Free admission.

Tuesday

Join the talented performers of the Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte for Karaoke Roulette. Karaoke Roulette is a fun twist on traditional karaoke, where performers spin a wheel to determine what song they will sing. If you don’t like your song, you can purchase a $5 token to nominate someone else to sign the song for you. 7-10 p.m. 2320 N. Davidson St. $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Thursday

Relax and recenter at Yoga Palooza. During this 75 minute practice, nine yoga teachers from studios throughout Charlotte will provide assists to provide a boutique experience. Stick around afterward for food trucks and fun. Each ticket includes yoga class and one drink. All proceeds benefit Carolina Breast Friends, a nonprofit supporting those with breast cancer. 6 p.m. 1030 Woodward Ave. $25.
