20 of the best Sunday Funday spots in Charlotte, whether you prefer mimosa flights or a Bloody Mary bar

Saturday is long gone and you have one, final day to put off Monday’s inevitable arrival. The only way to top off the weekend right is with a #SundayFunday.

We’re not saying that this is the only way to spend your Sunday. We’re also not saying every Sunday should be spent sipping a mimosa or Bloody Mary (or three). But if that’s the direction your day is headed, you might as well do it right.

For the optimal Sunday Funday:

• If possible, get more sleep than you normally would Saturday night.
• Gather your favorite group of people.
• Hydrate (no, drinking a Bloody Mary does not count as hydrating).
• Prepare yourselves for some adventure.
• Remember to eat.

If you want to feel even better about yourself during Sunday Funday, go outside and get moving. I love to start a Sunday with a hike, walk or other outdoor activities at Crowders Mountain, Freedom Park or the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Make it a Sunday Funday for the books at any of these spots in Charlotte, but keep in mind that any Sunday Funday can benefit from a little spontaneity. So, don’t be afraid to hit up multiple places and go wherever the day takes you!

5Church

Start at 5Church for a Sunday brunch of epic proportions, whether you go for something small like the avocado toast ($8) or a big ol’ breakfast like the Queens Breakfast ($13). 5Church even offers a mimosa flight ($15), meaning you get to taste four different flavors of bubbly mimosas with your meal. Plus, the restaurant’s trendy interior and energetic atmosphere will get your spirits up as you recover from last night’s festivities.

10 Park Lanes

10 Park Lanes offers a lively atmosphere and a little friendly competition on your Sunday Funday. Beyond bowling, you can also play other games like ping pong, corn hole and bocce ball. If you’re still in recovery mode, we recommend ordering a Bacon Bloody ($8) which is a vodka Bloody Mary topped with bacon and jalapeno stuffed olives.

All American Pub

200 E. Bland St.

This South End game day hub is a high-energy place to be for Sunday Funday. They will keep you fueled with $2 mimosas, $4 Bloody Marys and $5 tall boys every Sunday. Expect a large (and rowdy) crowd, especially if the Panthers are playing.

Angry Ale’s

If you are aiming to keep your Sunday Funday spending relatively low, it is hard to beat Angry Ale’s. They offer $12 bottles of champagne and $2.50 Miller Lites on Sundays. Continue the weekend with food and drinks on their massive, dog-friendly porch or hang out inside on colder days.

Brazwell’s

Another affordable option: on Sundays, Brazwell’s offers a $4 Bloody Mary bar, $2 mimosas and $2.50 Bud Lights. Start here before you move on with the rest of your day… or stick around to keep the Funday festivities going. There are plenty of TVs all over the bar so you just might find yourself taking advantage of the drink specials and staying to watch more than one game.

Dilworth Neighborhood Grill

This sports bar has a massive outdoor patio, and it is also the official home of the Charlotte Chapter of the Roaring Riot. Watch some games here alongside Panthers fans galore, then hitch a ride on the free shuttle to Bank of America Stadium.

Draught offers the ideal brunch menu items to cure what’s ailing you and an atmosphere that never seems to die down, this is a favorite place to celebrate Sunday Funday and get into the game. This classic Charlotte spot does not disappoint. Visit Ed’s for a laid-back Sunday Funday vibe. They have substantial bar bites, pool tables and plenty of beer options. Plus, on Sundays you can take advantage of $2.50 Bud Lights, $10 Deep Eddy buckets and $4 mimosas.

Graham Street Pub & Patio

This pub is situated between BB&T Ballpark and Bank of America Stadium with a stunning view of Uptown, so it is almost always packed. They also have a wide variety of food and drinks to satisfy any craving, so it’s a great spot to get comfortable and stay for an extended period of time with a larger group.

Order one of the pub’s popular Transfusions along with some food (like the nachos, $9.95) and enjoy watching a game on their comfortable porch seating. This is a spot that’s great to visit at any point during the day, not just for brunch.

VBGB will keep your group entertained, full and buzzed for the entirety of your Sunday Funday. From the seemingly endless options for both games and beer to their food and massive patio, VBGB is always a good choice. And while they specialize in local and regional beer, but do also offer a full bar, so you can order whatever “hair of the dog” suits you best.

Vivace

With a brunch menu that will leave you with a very solid base for your day, Vivace is a suitable place to start off Sunday Funday. Bloody Mary’s and mimosas are $2 each until 3:45pm so Vivace is also a favorable option to stop by after your group has already visited a couple other places. Order the Brussels Sprouts!

This Plaza Midwood staple is consistently packed on Sundays for good reason. They offer $2 Mimosas, $4 Bloody Mary Bar, $5 Tito’s and $2.50 Bud Lights on Sundays, and they boast a stunning view of the Queen City (without having to deal with Uptown parking or prices).

Don’t forget to put yourself to bed at a reasonable hour after your Sunday Funday activities of choice so you show up fresh-faced and ready to go for work in the morning!
