Carolina barbecue fans: Mark your calendar for Charlotte’s first Carolina BBQ Festival, planned for this spring at Camp North End and created by Sweet Lew’s BBQ’s owner Lewis Donald.

Pitmasters will be on site from across the state, ready to showcase their region’s barbecue — with samples, of course. Themed “From Palmettos to Long Leaf Pines,” barbecue will be served from these three regions of Carolina: East, West and South. “We are gathering the best pitmasters from across the Carolinas for the Carolina BBQ Festival to showcase the best barbecue styles in the country, and to benefit organizations that are vital to communities both in the region and nationally,” Donald said in a statement.

Local beer, wines and non-alcoholic beverages from across the Carolinas will also be featured.
