Charlotte SHOUT! is back for 17 days this April. Here are a few don’t-miss events.

Charlotte SHOUT! is making a post COVID-19 comeback to the city in April, bringing 17 days of music, art, food and ideas.

The event is a showcase of the city’s talent — you’ll see innovation pushed to the forefront of our civic duties, and SHOUT! will weave together just about every culture in the city.

Here are a few highlighted events that are dope enough to do just that (and you can find a full schedule online):

Queen’s Greens

Location: Wells Fargo Plaza, 301 S Tryon St Fl 1, Charlotte, NC 28282

Neighborhood: Uptown

Spend some family time enjoying this free putt-putt course in Uptown. Charlotte Is Creative has let local artists design obstacles on the nine holes in the miniature golf course, each portraying a city landmark. This can be an activity for folks looking to take a break from work, unwind after work or just spend the day rather uniquely.

When: Sundays-Wednesdays: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays: noon-10 p.m.

Cost: $3 per person for each round

Wednesday Night Live

Location: Various locations

Neighborhood: Uptown

Wednesday Night Live, a regular feature year-round, will continue during SHOUT! Three museums will have free admission for the public every Wednesday of SHOUT!’s duration. Folks can choose to visit the Mint Museum, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture.

At the Bechtler on April 6, Wednesday Night Live will feature Party on the Plaza from 5-9 p.m. The Bechtler’s outdoor plaza will have live performances from local bands, including Bakalao Stars and Bravo Pueblo, and world music from DJ Asher Strunk. The International Truck of Tacos will be onsite, and a cash/credit bar will be available for purchases.

At Mint Museum Uptown on April 13 at 6 p.m., a special event will celebrate two Mark Rothko paintings recently displayed by the museum. Harry Cooper, senior curator and head of modern and contemporary art at the National Gallery of Art, will give a lecture on Rothko’s life and works.

NoteWorthy

Location: Victoria Yards, 408 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

This collaboration between WDAV Classical Public Radio and the FAIR PLAY Music Equity Initiative is the first the city has ever seen with NoteWorthy. This all-star Charlotte lineup of multiple genres blends together some classical music swag and features Quisol, Karen Poole, Arsena Schroeder, Harvey Cummings II, Lenora Cox Leggatt and Leonard Mark Lewis.

When: April 6, 7:30 p.m.

Cost: Free with RSVP

Brubeck Brothers Quartet

Location: Middle C Jazz, 300 S Brevard St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

The two sons of the legendary jazz artist Dave Brubeck will bring their Brubeck Brothers Quartet to SHOUT! for those looking to wind down from a case of the Mondays with some jazz. Enjoy dinner in addition to live music with Middle C Jazz’s small plates and craft cocktails.

When: April 7, 7 p.m.

Cost: $49 through Middle C Jazz

Indie Fest at Gateway Village

Location: Gateway Village, 900 W Trade St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Enjoy some of the best independent artists in Charlotte at this musical showcase. Eagle Nest Management has produced a day of music, lights and even a laser show featuring sets from Pluto Gang, Swim in the Wild, Braxton Bateman, Natalie Carr, Emanual Wynter and DJ Fannie Mae.

When: April 8, 3 p.m.

When Su Casa Speaks

Location: Victoria Yards, 408 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Known for providing some of the best afrobeat parties in Charlotte, Su Casa has entered the chat! Su Casa brings what feels like a moving fusion of spoken word and music. We highly recommend bringing a few friends to this event to dance the night away, or at least get the night started.

When: April 8, 6 p.m.

Can I Kick It?!

Location: Victoria Yards, 408 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

The Shaolin Jazz crew is bringing its Can I Kick It?! Series to SHOUT! with a screening of “Enter The Dragon.” Pull up with your favorite chair to Victoria Yards for the ultimate cultural experience, where DJs 2-Tone Jones and DR spin hip-hop alongside the famous Bruce Lee flick.

When: April 9, 9 p.m.

Charlotte StrEATS

Location: Gateway Village, 900 West Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Indulge in food galore to end this blended festival, because what better way to celebrate the city than by getting a literal taste of the talent in Charlotte? CharlotteFive drummed up all the details on the festival within a festival. And you won’t want to miss Food Network’s Amanda Freitag cook live on stage April 16 at 2 p.m. Charlotte StrEATS is free to attend but tickets are required for different tastings.

When: April 15, 5-8:30 p.m.; April 16, noon-6 p.m.

Cost: Free-$140 through Eventbrite
