Charlotte Black Pride is now under way, and the celebrations will last until July 24.

The festivities uplift the culture and contributions the LGBTQ+ community of color have made to the Charlotte area. “Charlotte Black Pride’s goal is to celebrate and unite the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and all marginalized communities,” the organization said in a statement.

Some of the festivities that have taken place are “Fit & Fabulous,” featuring fitness and wellness professionals such as Charity Holloway, who competed in “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” on Prime Video.

This year’s theme is BLACKAF. “It’s important that our community is confident in who they are,” Charlotte Black Pride Board Chair Shann Fulton said in a statement. “And their skin color should not be weaponized but embraced.”
