Make the most of spring-like weather in Charlotte with these outdoor activities

The sun is out in Charlotte and the temperatures are above average this week, making it a great time to get in some springtime activities despite it still being winter.

And although a chance of rain and cooler temperatures is in the forecast for the weekend, per the National Weather Service, things are expected to brighten and warm up again next week.

Whether you’re looking to get some exercise, hang out with friends or have some family-friendly fun, there are plenty of things to check out in and around Charlotte.

Here are some outdoor activities to enjoy with friends and families while taking advantage of the sunshine and warmth:

Breweries

The Charlotte area is an epicenter of the craft beer craze, with numerous breweries to check out.

Many offer outdoor seating and events such as food trucks.

U.S. National Whitewater Center

The Whitewater Center is a Charlotte staple, offering plenty of outdoor activities and events.

In addition to rafting, there’s also climbing, ziplines, yoga classes and more. There are also multiple upcoming events, including races and a film series.

College baseball games

There are still a few weeks to go before the Charlotte Knights bring Minor League Baseball back to Truist Field, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to take in a ballgame.

Some Charlotte-area universities, including UNC Charlotte and Queens University, have already started their baseball seasons. And they’ve got home games in Charlotte coming up.

Try hiking trails

Spring-like weather is the perfect opportunity to head out on a hike, and the Carolinas have no shortage of trails.

Whether you’re an experienced hiker or looking to try it for the first time, there are routes for all levels. Some are right in Charlotte, while others make the foundation for a fun day trip.
