April 20, or 4/20, is the (unofficial) national holiday dedicated to weed.

Though marijuana for medical and recreational use remains illegal in North Carolina for now, the good news for pot lovers is that there are still plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday in Charlotte.

If you’re a marijuana enthusiast who won’t be glued to the couch on Thursday, check out these 4/20 events around the Queen City.

Hemp Candle Making Class

When: 3 p.m.

Where: Side Bar Bottle Company, 208 S. Main St., Davidson, NC 28036

Cost: $55

What to know: Learn how to make a hemp-scented candle or sample a delta-8 or delta-9 seltzer at Side Bar Bottle Co. Representatives from Green Compass CBD will be at the event with samples and answer all your CBD-related questions. Get tickets.

420 How High Showcase

When: 6:30-10 p.m.

Where: 1st & Goal, 7801 University City Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28213

Cost: $10-$40

What to know: If you’re an R&B artist, rapper, or comedian – and you believe in the legalization of marijuana – you don’t want to miss registration for this event. Admission is $10 for attendees and $25 for artists and vendors. Get tickets.

420 Celebration Festival

When: 6-9 p.m.

Where: 1208 McAlway Rd.

Cost: $15-$75

What to know: The festival will include a “chill, relaxed vibe,” live music, outdoor games, vendors, and more. Get tickets.

Lil Wayne at The Filmore

When: 8 p.m.

Where: The Filmore, 820 Hamilton St., Charlotte, NC 28206

Cost: $380

What to know: Just two weeks after making a surprise guest appearance at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, “A Milli” and “Kush” rapper Lil Wayne is making another stop in the Tarheel State. Get tickets.

Comedy Night at Heist Brewery

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Heist Brewery, 2909 N. Davidson St. #200, Charlotte, NC 28205

Cost: $10

What to know: This comedy night will be headlined by Ben Jones, a comic who has shared the stage with Rob Schneider, Bob Saget, Adam Devine, and more. North Carolina-based comic Robert Every is also a featured guest. Get tickets.
