New movie filming in Charlotte area. Here’s how you can be featured in the comedy.

An old fast-food joint outside of Charlotte has been transformed into a Hollywood movie set.

What used to be a Burger King in Waxhaw is now designed as a “Taco Gary’s” for a new movie called “Operation Taco Gary’s,” WSOC-TV reported.

The comedy, starring Simon Rex and Tony Cavalero, is about two brothers embarking on a cross-country road trip that quickly devolves when they become involved in a global conspiracy, IMDB’s description reads.

It’s being filmed in Charlotte and the surrounding area, including Waxhaw, this summer.

This is one of several movies that have used Charlotte as a backdrop for the big screen. Over the years, the region has been featured in “Talladega Nights”, “Shots Fired” and “The Hunger Games.”

More recently, the “Please Don’t Destroy” movie from Saturday Night Live performers, and ”Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” based on the classic Judy Blume novel, were filmed in the region. And both had the same casting company as this new comedy currently being filmed.

Stewart Casting, a motion picture and television casting company, also worked on getting local talent for several other projects in the Carolinas, including “Outer Banks,” filmed mostly in Charleston.

It’s unclear when “Operation Taco Gary’s” is set to premiere, but it’s not too late for you to take part in the action.

A casting call listed by Stewart Casting says they are looking for some featured extras and background actors who are available for filming on various dates in June.
