Start your weekend with a live musical performance in the Plaza of Birkdale Village every Friday evening. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Music provided by Ryan and Woody.

Celebrate Independence Day a little early with a free concert by the Charlotte Symphony, followed by fireworks. The opening act will be Rockie Lynne, and there will be a Kids’ Zone, as well as concessions available from local breweries, wineries and food trucks.

Meet at the visitor center at Lake Norman State Park and take a short hike along the 0.8-mile Alder Trail. The group will explore the shores of two creeks, learning about the plants that grow there. Space is limited. Registration is required. Call 704-528-6350.
