A new movie filmed in Charlotte with a popular comedy group from ”Saturday Night Live” is coming out soon — and you can check out the trailer now.

The trio from the iconic Please Don’t Destroy skits featured on the late-night show, Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, will be starring in ”Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain,” releasing next month.

“It follows three friends who live together,” the movie description says. “When they realize that they don’t like their life trajectory, they set off to find a gold treasure that is rumored to be buried in the nearby mountain.”

From the producers of “The 40-year-old Virgin” and “Step Brothers,” the rated-R comedy for Universal Studios will also feature Meg Stalter, X Mayo, Bowen Yang and Conan O’Brien.

Last year, film crews were spotted in Charlotte with Please Don’t Destroy as the group roller skated throughout the NoDa neighborhood, CharlotteFive previously reported. Plaza Midwood can be spotted, too.

“The movie is set in a place where we need to have access to mountains and towns,” executive producer for Apatow Productions, Josh Church, previously told CharlotteFive.

The Please Don’t Destroy trio

Please Don’t Destroy is a New York-based comedy trio that began performing as a group years ago. Back in 2019, the three were doing sketch shows regularly, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But once the pandemic hit, they began making more short-form videos on Youtube and TikTok.

Fast forward to 2021 when lockdowns were lifted, the group was back on stage doing a live comedy show with Lorne Michaels from SNL in the audience — who ended up hiring them to be on his writing staff.

Since then, Marshall, Higgins and Herlihy have been writing and making videos for SNL and have performed live sketch shows at festivals and colleges across the U.S.

Their new movie in Charlotte will be their first starring roles in a film.

“It’s been refreshing to be working with them,” Church previously told CharlotteFive. “They are so fun to work with,” he added. “Their excitement and passion for this project is infectious.”

Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain” will be released exclusively on Peacock to stream Friday, Nov. 17.
