The annual Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, held on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, is marked with events and other celebrations around the country, including several in the Charlotte area.

The federal holiday is observed on the third Monday of January each year. King’s birthday is Jan. 15, 1929, so this year is a special one: The celebration falls on his actual birthday.
