We’re all Irish in March: Make your St. Patrick’s Day plans with these Charlotte events

Grab your green T-shirts, it’s time to party. And, this year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday, so be prepared for a full weekend of bar crawls, green beer and leprechauns around Charlotte.

If the pub scene is not your vibe, you won’t be left out of the St. Paddy’s fun. Other options include heading to a high tea or enjoy a dessert market with festive treats.

No matter how you celebrate, there’s fun for all to be had. Here are some events where you can celebrate in the Charlotte area:

A La Minute’s St. Patrick’s Day meal

Location: The City Kitch, 9545 Pinnacle Drive Charlotte, NC 28262

When: Now

A La Minute is offering St. Patrick’s Day meals for pickup only on March 16-17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Choices include baked fish cakes, corned beef and cabbage, lamb and dumpling stew, and shepherd’s pie.

Price: Varies, as items are a la carte. Entrees range from $12.99-$17.99, and orders are due March 13.

Goldie’s

Location: 3601 South Blvd, Charlotte NC 28209

When: March 14-17

Goldie’s has an extended lineup of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations planned Thursday through Sunday, plus food and drink specials.

Live music acts are:

  • Thursday: Garden of Eden, 7-10:30 p.m.
  • Friday: REO Survivor & Co, 9 p.m.-midnight
  • Saturday: Ghosts of Bannockburn, 9 p.m.-midnight
  • Sunday: Leisure McCorkle, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; Jonathan Burchfield Duo, 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Price: Specials include $12 reuben, $8 Irish banger, $5 Guinness drafts and $7 green and orange tea shots.

Angry Ale’s

Location: 1518 Montford Dr, Charlotte, NC 28209

When: March 16-17

Angry Ale’s will celebrate St. Patrick’s with two days of food and drink specials.

Price:

  • $5 green beer drafts

  • $4 green mimosas

  • $7 Jameson shots

  • $8 car bombs

  • Lunch or dinner special: homemade corned beef on grilled rye with Irish potatoes for $11.

Sir Edmond Halley’s

Location: Park Road Shopping Center, 4151 Park Rd A, Charlotte, NC 28209

When: March 16-17

Sir Edmond Halley’s is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all weekend. You can stop in Saturday, March 16 for corned beef and cabbage, Irish egg rolls, Guinness Pudding and a pint of Guinness. On Sunday, March 17, world renowned bagpiper Dave McKenzi and Irish dancers will perform while you eat.

Cost: Varies, as items are a la carte. Corned beef and cabbage is $18, and Guinness is $7, for example.

St. Patrick’s Day High Tea

Location: The Ballantyne, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277

When: March 16 and March 17, 1-4 p.m.

If you join in on the Ballantyne Hotel’s St. Patrick’s Day High Tea, you’ll munch on themed sandwiches and a selection of scones and pastries while you sip tea. Adult tea will include a choice of either Champagne or an Irish themed cocktail. The hotel will also feature a St. Patrick’s Day Special “Irish Breakfast” Tea blend. Loose leaf tea is provided by the Rare Tea Company.

Price: $70 per adult and $35 per child, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required — call (704) 248-4000.

Green River Revival

Location: U.S National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214

When: March 16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Kick off the spring season early at the Whitewater Center, which will turn the river green for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s also lined up a bunch of festivities, such as the Color Me Green 5K Trail Run, yoga and live music.

Cost: Free entry, parking for $12

Mary O’Neill’s Irish Pub events

Location: 116 W North Main St, Waxhaw, NC 28173

When: March 16-17

Mary O’Neill’s is counting down to St. Patrick’s Day already. It’s selling T-shirts to celebrate its seventh anniversary (a lucky number!) in Waxhaw, and planning events to start at 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. There’s a SCDR BBQ & Fixins fundraiser, along with its signature frozen beverages, on Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Adoptable dogs will also be there on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

Midwood Smokehouse

Location: 12410 Johnston Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277

Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

Location: North Tryon Street, uptown Charlotte

When: March 16, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival will feature food and drinks, craft vendors, performances by world-class schools of Irish dance and live music from Irish bands. The parade lasts from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with the festival stretching from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Cost: Free admission

Syc Patrick’s Day Brunch

Location: Sycamore Brewing, 2151 Hawkins St, Charlotte, NC 28203

When: March 16, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

At Sycamore Brewing’s Syc Patrick’s Day Brunch, you can dig into an all-you-can-eat buffet with Irish offerings and sip on green mimosas.

Price: $35 per person or $25 for food only if you’re under 21. Purchase tickets in advance.

Rich & Bennett’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl

Location: Pub Crawl Party Lot Uptown (location to come)

When: March 16, with 12-3 p.m. check-in

Rain or shine, the annual Rich & Bennett’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl will kick off an epic pub crawl with an event T-shirt that gets you access to all participating bars, a koozie, drink specials, swag and a raffle

New this year: A discount card will also give participants savings around town on food, merch and services through the end of March (but not on alcohol — that’s illegal in North Carolina).

Price: $20 at prepay events, $22.50 in store at Glory Days Apparel, $25 online or $30 day of the event.

Shamrock The Block 2024

Location: Dewitt Lane, Lower South End

When: March 16, noon-8 p.m.

State of Confusion and neighboring restaurants including State of Confusion, SupperClub SouthEnd, Gilde Brewery, Red Clay Ciderworks, Phat Burrito and Yama Asian Fusion are banding together for an interactive St. Patrick’s Day block party with live music, pints and bites, tailgating games and more. Participating restaurants will provide specials for guests. For example, at State of Confusion you’ll find a Green Irish Mule with Jameson Whiskey, a Ceviche Verde and a Turkey Rachel among the offerings.

Shamrocks & Shenanigans in Mooresville

Location: Downtown Mooresville, 215 N Main St, Mooresville, NC 28115

When: March 16, 3-8 p.m.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Shamrocks & Shenanigans in downtown Mooresville. The festival includes Irish dancers, pipe bands, food trucks, beverages and more. Tickets to join the bar crawl is $30, but the festival itself is free.

Luck of the Village

Location: The Plaza at Birkdale Village, 8712 Lindholm Dr #202, Huntersville, NC 28078

When: March 16, 5-8 p.m.

Birkdale Village’s Luck of the Village event will feature live music from The Hit Men Party Band of Charlotte, a traditional bagpipe production from the Loch Norman Pipe Band and dance performances by the Connick School of Irish Dance, along with swag, photo opportunities and more

Cost: Free

St. Paddy’s Crawl

Location: Multiple locations

When: March 16, with 5-8 p.m. check-in

Carolina Crawls’ St. Paddy’s Crawl will include a party with welcome treats and a DJ at check-in, along with exclusive drink specials. There will be a scavenger hunt for prizes, along with live entertainment, an NFT collectible that can be redeemed for cash and prices, and more.

Some of the 30+ participating spots include Slate in South End, Bargarita in NoDa and Pinhouse in Plaza Midwood.

Price: $10-$20. Buy tickets online.

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar

Location: Multiple, with locations in Charlotte, Concord Gastonia, Huntersville and Mooresville

When: March 17

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar is offering specials on shots of Jameson and Tullamore Dew, plus pints of beer all day March 17

Cost: $5 shots, $3 pints

St. Patrick’s Weekend Block Party

Location: Lake Norman Social District, 21234 Catawba Ave, Cornelius, NC 28031

When: March 17, 12-10 p.m.

Cost: Free entry

Join Thigs Cocktail Bar and Old Town Public House for its 3rd Annual St. Paddy’s Day weekend celebration from 3 p.m.-midnight Saturday and again on Sunday from noon-10 p.m. Guests can expect food, drinks, games and live bands.

St. Paddy’s Cake Dessert Market

Location: Queen Park Social, 4125 Yancey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217

When: March 17, 1-5 p.m.

At the St. Paddy’s Cake Dessert Market, you can pick up sweet treats that include vegan, gluten-free and even pet-friendly options.

Price: Free admission with reserved ticket. Donations to Autism After 18 are appreciated.

St. Patrick’s Day Sip and Paint Comedy Show

Location: Starlight Lounge & Night club, 7631 Sharon Lakes Road #Suite E Charlotte, NC 28210

When: March 17, 5 p.m.

Create Amazing’s St. Patrick’s Day Sip and Paint Comedy Show combines several forms of entertainment into one event. You’ll get a canvas, paint and brush to create your own masterpiece, along with a live DJ spinning EDM, pop and Top 40 music — plus a comedy show.
