Here’s when & where roads will be closed for Charlotte’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. See map

The popular parade featured flags, floats, bands, pipe band music, in a sea of green. Produced by the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade Foundation, Inc., the parade is open to pipe & drum bands, musical groups, neighborhood associations, schools, alumni groups, cheerleading and drill teams, international organizations, police, fire, elected officials, commercial businesses, and anyone else who wants to be Irish for a day. It started at N. Tryon St. and 9th Street in uptown Charlotte, marched south to 3rd Street, then made a left down 3rd St. to Caldwell.

It’s time to paint the town green for one of Charlotte’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The annual Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is returning to uptown Saturday, March 15 with spirited marching bands and festive floats, plus food vendors, craft vendors and kid-friendly activities.

With even more participants for this weekend’s festivities, there’s expected to be 20,000 participants at the parade and at least 20,000 participants at the festival, organizers told CharlotteFive.

Parade route and festival map

The festival is scheduled from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with the two-hour long parade kicking off at 11 a.m. from North Tryon Street and West 9th Street to East 3rd Street.

According to the City of Charlotte website, the following roads will close at 5:30 a.m. and reopen at 8 p.m. for the big event:

  • Tryon Street from Brooklyn Village Avenue to 3rd Street

  • 3rd Street from College Street to Church Street

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. from College Street to Church Street

  • Levine Avenue of the Arts from Tryon Street to Church Street

For the parade, North Tryon Street between 9th Street and East 13th Street will close at 8:30 a.m., and North Tryon Street between 9th Street and 3rd Street, along with all cross streets will close at 10 a.m.
