SCarowinds scares up new interactive experience with a horror movie franchise
“The Conjuring” horror film universe is coming to SCarowinds this Halloween season with a new interactive haunted attraction called “The Conjuring: Beyond Fear.”
Iconic characters of the movie franchise such as The Nun, The Crooked Man and The Ferryman will be featured in the experience at Carowinds, the Charlotte amusement park that straddles the state line. The attraction will open in Carowinds’ Aeronautica Landing Theatre, a nearly 3,600-square-foot venue in the Aeronautica section of the park.
SCarowinds is a limited-time event that occurs at Carowinds during the Halloween season, when the park will be open on select nights from Sept. 12 through Nov. 2. This fall will be the 25th anniversary of SCarowinds.
At “The Conjuring,” guests will step into the role of paranormal investigator and will have to lock away cursed artifacts before supernatural chaos is unleashed. Guests will experience state-of-the-art effects, screen-to-scream environments and a series of interactive challenges.
To participate in the experience, guests will have to purchase a $15 separate pass from the regular park admission or Haunted Attraction Pass which is $10.
The group experience, which is recommended for guests ages 13 and up, will last 20 minutes.
Other new attractions coming this fall will include a haunted maze, scare zone and live show.

Carowinds is a 400-acre amusement park that straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina state line.
It has more than 58 rides, attractions and live stage shows. It is also home to Carolina Harbor, a 26-acre water park which features water slides, wave pools, large play structures and a three-acre children’s play area.
Carowinds is owned by Six Flags Entertainment. The CEO of Six Flags will step down at the end of the year. The company reported a net revenue of $930 million and a net loss of $100 million in the second quarter of 2025.
