Reneé Rapp’s hometown fans will have to wait a little longer to see her on Charlotte’s biggest indoor stage.

On Tuesday night, about 24 hours before her scheduled “Bite Me Tour” concert at Spectrum Center, the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and “pop disruptor” announced on social media that the show was being postponed nine days due to her extended recovery to an ongoing illness.

“As of right now, I still don’t have a voice,” the Charlotte-area native posted on her Instagram Stories. “I’m recovering slowly but still not in a place where I am able to perform safely tomorrow night at my hometown show- I am so sorry and heartbroken that I have to postpone.”

Rapp, 25, is a 2018 graduate of Northwest School of the Arts on Beatties Ford and grew up in Huntersville. The Charlotte date was originally to mark the final show of a 16-city run in support of her sophomore album “Bite Me.”

She wrote that the concert has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 7. All original tickets will be honored on the new date.

Earlier this week, Rapp also postponed concerts in Atlanta and Tampa due to illness. Those were rescheduled for next week as well.

“Again I want to stress that I know the time effort and preparation attending a show takes,” she said on Instagram. “I promise you it doesn’t go unnoticed or unseen. I’m taking this time to recover and then next week for these rescheduled shows I will give you the best version of me,” she said. “The best version of this show that I love so much. The show you deserve to see.”

Rapp’s star has been rising since she released her debut album, “Everything to Everyone,” in 2022. In 2023, she teamed up with rapper Megan Thee Stallion on the hit single “Not My Fault.”

She also has an impressive acting resume, having starred last year as Regina George in Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls” movie remake and from 2021 to 2021 in the HBO Max dramedy “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
