Two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame acts book 2026 shows on two big Charlotte stages
A pair of legendary musical acts — both Rock and Roll Hall of Famers — announced major outdoor concerts in Charlotte on Monday within a span of just seven minutes.
The first was Sting’s “STING 3.0” North American tour, which will stop at PNC Music Pavilion on Monday, May 18. The second was AC/DC’s “POWER UP” tour, which has officially been booked for Saturday, July 11, at Bank of America Stadium in uptown.
Neither has been to the Queen City in quite some time: It’s been nearly 17 years since AC/DC performed at what was then called Time Warner Cable Arena, and nearly 18 since Sting (appearing with his old band The Police) headlined the same building, then called Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
AC/DC tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via this link. There was no mention of a presale.
Meanwhile, members of Sting’s fan club will have first access to tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday at sting.com, with general sales beginning on the website at 10 a.m. Friday.
These are the only Carolinas shows either artist is currently planning.
AC/DC — famed for rock anthems including “Back in Black,” “Thunderstruck” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” — will feature lead guitarist Angus Young (who’ll be 71 next year) and vocalist Brian Johnson (78), along with rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and bass player Chris Chaney.
The AC/DC concert is now among two so far set for BofA Stadium. Ed Sheeran is set to play there on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Sting, 74, won’t be with The Police but he’ll do plenty of Police songs, with recent setlists peppered with band hits like “Message in a Bottle” and “Roxanne” alongside solo stuff like “Desert Rose” and “Fragile.”
The singer originally had planned to co-headline a Bank of America Stadium concert with rock and roll legend Billy Joel this year, but Joel eventually canceled all of his scheduled performances due to Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a condition affecting his hearing, vision and balance.
