Charlotte will soon take center stage in the gospel music world.
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards, widely considered the biggest awards show in gospel music, will be held in the Queen City this summer, bringing major artists and fans from across the country. Charlotte will host the 41st annual ceremony, which will be taped live at the Spectrum Center on Aug. 15, with performances expected from gospel artists Jekalyn Carr and John P. Kee with New Life Community Choir.
The awards, founded in 1985 by Central City Productions CEO Don Jackson, celebrate excellence in gospel music and air nationwide on television networks including BET, Bounce TV and the Stellar Network.
The ceremony will be part of a multi-day celebration known as Stellar Plus Week, scheduled for Aug. 12-14, Praise Charlotte reported. The event will feature master classes, soundstages, fashion shows, comedy showcases and other fan activities tied to the awards.
Information on tickets, performers and additional events is expected to be announced closer to the show.
