Here are the Charlotte concerts worth seeing — one for every night of the week

Some weeks in Charlotte, the hardest part isn’t finding a concert — it’s figuring out which one is actually worth your time.

That’s where this guide comes in. Every week, we’ll highlight one standout live music pick for each night, from major touring acts to smaller local shows that might otherwise fly under the radar.

Tuesday, May 12

Best bet: Bella White with Erin Rae — 8 p.m. at Neighborhood Theatre.

Bella White has become one of those “your favorite Americana artist’s favorite Americana artist” musicians over the last few years — blending bluegrass, folk and country into heartbreaking songs that feel timeless.

Also consider: Alternative-R&B artist Clara La San at The Underground.

Wednesday, May 13

Best bet: Kid Cudi — 6:30 p.m. at Truliant Amphitheater.

Few artists are more closely tied to late-2000s emotional nostalgia than rapper Kid Cudi, whose iconic songs from that era include “Day ‘N’ Nite,” “Pursuit of Happiness” and “Memories.”

Also consider: Folk singer-songwriter Matthew Alexander’s album-release show at Evening Muse.

Thursday, May 14

Best bet: Martin Bejerano’s Purple Project — 7 p.m. at Middle C Jazz.

How about Martin Bejerano’s Purple Project for a “wow, that actually could be really cool” concept: a jazz reinterpretation of Prince songs — including beloved classics like “Purple Rain” and “Kiss.”

Also consider: Rock band Godsmack at Truliant Amphitheater.

Friday, May 15

Best bet: Toadies — 7 p.m. at The Underground.

The Toadies are best known for alt-rock staples like “Possum Kingdom” and sharp live shows. A night with this Texas group feels tailor-made for anyone who misses the era when rock radio was genuinely weird.

Also consider: The “Queens of Country” tribute show at Amos’ Southend.

Saturday, May 16

Best bet: Dave Matthews Band — 7:30 p.m. at Truliant Amphitheater.

What would a summer-concert season be without thousands of faithful Dave Matthews fans on the edges of their seats wondering what song will come next in the rock/jam band maestro’s ever-changing setlist?

Also consider: Seattle-based shoegaze band Beach Vacation at Snug Harbor.

Sunday, May 17

Best bet: John Legend — 8 p.m. at Ovens Auditorium.

“An Evening of Songs & Stories” will focus on R&B/soul singer John Legend’s crowd-pleasing hits like “All of Me” and “Ordinary People.” Expect strong date-night energy throughout the room.

Also consider: Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra at TD Amp Ballantyne.

Monday, May 18

Best bet: Sting — 8 p.m. at Truliant Amphitheater.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sting, making his first Charlotte appearance since reuniting with The Police nearly two decades ago, remains one of the rare rock stars whose solo career carries nearly as much weight as his legendary band’s catalog.

Also consider: The Bill Hanna Legacy (weekly) Jazz Session at Petra’s.
