Anime convention with voice actors, cosplay and 18+ events coming to Charlotte

Anime fans and pop culture lovers can head to Charlotte Big Anime at the Charlotte Convention Center from Saturday, June 27, to Sunday, June 28, for voice actors, featured panels, artists and more.

Pop culture and anime conventions have exploded in popularity across the United States, giving cosplayers and cartoon enthusiasts looking a place to celebrate their interests together. Charlotte has hosted several of these events in recent years, including Queen City Anime Convention and Collect-A-Con Charlotte.

Charlotte Big Anime adds another all-ages convention to the city’s lineup, with programming for anime fans, pop culture lovers and families.

What to expect at Charlotte Big Anime

Charlotte Big Anime will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The convention will feature panels focused on creativity, all-ages karaoke and anime-adjacent games such as trivia and guessing contests.

The weekend lineup also includes a musical performance by Gross Angel at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and a cosplay contest at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cosplayers and attendees can also expect appearances from voice actors whose credits include “The Amazing Digital Circus,” “Hazbin Hotel,” “My Hero Academia” and “Sailor Moon” are scheduled to attend.

Charlotte Big Anime will also feature artists and vendors selling artwork, custom-made merchandise, props and other convention collectibles.

Adults-only events at Charlotte Big Anime

Adults, we get it. You’re not looking for just the casual, walk-in-the-park convention experience. Luckily, Charlotte Big Anime is also offering multiple 18+ events.

On Saturday and Sunday, Charlotte Big Anime will feature adult-oriented panels, including “So Bad, It’s Animated,” “A Helluva Time” and “The Worst Anime You’ve (Probably) Never Heard Of ...”

Charlotte Big Anime is selling tickets through its website and offers both regular admission and VIP passes. Ticket prices are listed below:

  • Children’s Weekend Pass (Ages 3-12): $11.84
  • Children’s Saturday Pass (Ages 3-12): $6.08
  • Children’s Sunday Pass (Ages 3-12): $6.08
  • Weekend Pass: $69.35
  • Saturday Pass: $46.34
  • Sunday Pass: $40.60
