An oasis in the woods was designed for relaxation — and ranks as the most in-demand place to stay in North Carolina.
As it turns out, the tucked-away treehouse is only a short drive from Charlotte.
Vacation rental website Airbnb said the getaway hot spot is on a property in Concord. The city of more than 100,000 people is a roughly 25-mile drive northeast from uptown Charlotte and is home to the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Here’s what we know about the Airbnb listing, called “Romantic Treehouse Glamping on 40-Acre Farm.”
What does the in-demand Airbnb offer?
The destination for glamping — or glamorous camping — was named the most desirable Airbnb in North Carolina after the website studied its listings. It deterined which place in the state most often appeared on 2025 wishlists, an online tool that allows people to save properties that capture their attention as they plan for future trips, the company wrote on its website and in an April 9 report.
So, what can you expect at the Concord property? The Airbnb hosts said the treehouse — which costs about $200 per night — is “more luxurious than camping but cooler than a hotel.”
That means the destination offers elements to help visitors be in tune with nature, including a fire pit, pond and farm animals roaming nearby. But there also are the conveniences of a toilet, shower and kitchen appliances, photos show.
“Unplug and unwind in our charming treehouse glamping retreat, nestled among towering pines on a peaceful 40-acre farm,” the Airbnb hosts wrote in the listing. “The perfect blend of adventure and comfort, this unique stay is designed for couples seeking a fun, romantic escape from everyday life!”
Airbnb said it couldn’t share specific data about visits to the treehouse with The Charlotte Observer when asked on Friday, April 17. But the listing shows the destination is a fan favorite, earning 4.96 out of 5 stars.
It’s not the first time a North Carolina glamping spot has been honored. In 2024, Sky Ridge Yurts in the mountain town of Bryson City ranked No. 1 on a list of the nation’s best places that combine the “minimalistic nature of camping with modern amenities,” The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
Where else do people want to stay?
The Concord treehouse fits in with many of the most appealing places in the Southeast.
“Water and wanderlust define the South’s most wishlisted stays,” Airbnb wrote in its report. “Travelers are gravitating toward waterfront escapes — lakeside retreats, beachfront homes, and even houseboats — while also seeking out romantic treehouses tucked into the woods, mountaintop hideaways, and glamping experiences.”
There’s also a broad trend of vacationers being attracted to “scenic, off-the-map destinations and unique, experience-driven stays,” an Airbnb spokesperson told The Observer via email.
Nationwide, the other most desirable Airbnbs in their respective states include a western saloon in Idaho and a rural cabin in Kansas, The Kansas City Star reported.
