New restaurants coming soon to popular south Charlotte shopping center
A popular shopping center in Piper Glen is getting a handful of food-related upgrades.
A breakfast and lunch restaurant called Eggs Up Grill will open its first Charlotte location in a 2,916 square-foot space formerly occupied by Rudy’s Italian Restaurant, according to a statement Thursday from Lat Purser, the Charlotte firm that owns The Shops at Piper Glen off Rea Road.
DeSarno’s Kitchen, which sells fresh Italian meals that customers can thaw out and cook at home, will open this summer in a 1,440-square-foot space this spring. DeSarno’s offers dishes like chicken parmesan, shepherd’s pie, casseroles and soups. It also offers catering.
And an existing tenant at the shopping center, Great Harvest Bread Co., plans to nearly double its 1,586-square-foot space. The bakery is also adding a commercial grain mill that will allow it to grind wheat berries on site. The expansion should wrap up this summer.
Piper Glen Ballroom used to occupy the DeSarno’s space and the adjacent Great Harvest expansion space, a spokesman for Lat Purser said.
“These new and expanded food offerings will be strong additions to our retail mix and will help to ensure that The Shops at Piper Glen remains a vibrant neighborhood destination for residents of south Charlotte to dine or shop,” said Peyton Gehron of Lat Purser, in the statement.
