In my opinion, Just Fresh stuck around my Dilworth neighborhood for far too long with their bland salads and oily soups. Seventeen years, to be exact.

Now we can rejoice knowing (thanks to the Kathleen Purvis news radar) that YAFO Kitchen is expected to open in October in the space vacated by Just Fresh at 1231 A. East Blvd.

YAFO Kitchen is the fast-casual Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurant first opened by Frank Scibelli’s FS Food Group in SouthPark, with another location coming to Plaza Midwood.

While we’re not yet privy to the menu specifics that executive chef Shai Fargian will whip up, consistency across restaurants is definitely key to Scibelli’s business model. So pardon us while we start dreaming of these five menu items we hope to be devouring at YAFO Dilworth this fall:

Laffah

Oh, the laffah. This soft, warm, Middle Eastern flatbread wrapped in foil is just one of the many amazing freebies to find at local restaurants. Just add a hummus bowl (like the Roasted Peppers & Almonds with Hummus) to dip into and you’re golden.

Greek Yogurt Mac and Cheese

It’s hot, it’s thick, it’s creamy — and the yogurt base means you could even convince yourself it’s the healthiest thing you’ve ever put into your mouth.

Build Your Own Salad Bowls

Nothing appeases the vegetarian salad glutton more than the choice of more than 10 toppings, four spreads, and seven add-ons. Don’t forget the tahini and schug on the side, or the handy dandy Katie’s Build Your Own Salad Bowl guide here.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Holy green goodness, they are roasted to a delightful firmness, with the sweetness of chopped dates and the slight sting of salt. Lop them on top of your salad bowl.

Rotisserie Chicken

Brightly browned to a sheen, the quarter, half and full chickens are amplified by the multiple mezze options they’re served with. (I watch my coworker devour it each visit.)

As if the food isn’t enough to salivate over, there’s that enormous patio overlooking East Boulevard that Just Fresh left behind, too. A glass of wine should pair well with that.

Welcome to Dilworth, YAFO.
