Try a new fitness regimen with VIBE5, opening today in SouthPark
The newest addition to Charlotte’s fitness scene is more than a gym with group classes. VIBE5 (pronounced “vibes”) in the Morrison shopping center is a sanctuary for fitness and wellness junkies, and owners Amy Radke and Roni Pinch created a space where guests want to linger.
The interior of the studio is bright with natural accents. The ceilings are high and the music choice is solid, setting the mood for a rewarding workout.
Radke has a corporate career and Pinch is a speech pathologist, but both were looking for an adventure they could do together.
“I was itching for what more we could do,” said Pinch.
Both found a new work-life balance and wanted to help the community do the same.
“We want to have a place where you can do anything,” said Pinch.
There are certainly no limits when it comes to changing up your routine at the studio. VIBE5 is based on five areas of focus: yoga, cardio, strength training, youth programs, and corporate and community.
They have various yoga classes including hot yoga, rocket yoga and H3 (hip-hop yoga), plus cross-training and bootcamp classes.
The owners, who are both mothers and met at their kids’ school, are setting up youth programs—Guru Girls for tweens and Trifecta Athletics lead by former NFL player Eric Johnson. Both curricula focus on fitness and mindfulness to produce well-rounded athletes.
VIBE5 also offers private classes (like the one I had with Rodolfo Tandazo) and corporate events.
I loved the hot yoga private lesson. The one on one attention really helped me develop my practice and push myself more than I would in a typical group class. In a group setting, hot yoga is still great — it’s more meditative and focuses more on the stretch rather than full-on cardio.
