Fake it till you make it: Charlotte wedding edition
Last Thursday, The Big Fake Wedding stopped in Charlotte for the second time, at Levine Museum for the New South. The event travels around the country hosting one-night “weddings” so that brides and grooms can check out local vendors in action. Hey, I love weddings, but sometimes a fake one is just more fun than the real thing:
(1) It’s just like a regular night out (no small talk with awkward relatives), except that the high- quality catering, decor, and band are way better than any house party you’ve been to lately.
(2) Did I mention the band? Yeah. Get your groove on with your fiance (if he’s into this kind of thing) or your bffs.
(3) With the ‘fake wedding’ format, you get great ideas and unusual twists on wedding traditions in real life (talking to you, obsessive Pinners). Three of my favorites were the harpist/cellist rendition of “Happy,” the cupcake bar (story cover photo above), and the wildflower seed favors. Also, you get the daintiest swag you’ve ever seen in your life.
4. It’s not so serious. One of the groomsmen snuck in a playful butt-smack during the processional. It was funny.
5. The emotion is still legit. I didn’t know the bride and groom – a real couple celebrating their 10-year vow renewal – but their sentiments were sweet. C5 loves love.
