(1) How did Pure Intentions Coffee come to be?

“I had never been a barista, never been to a roastery, just loved coffee and wanted to know more about how great coffee was created … Once I had my first home roaster and began experimenting with different origins and roast profiles, I was hooked and knew it was going to be my passion in life …

“I believe the turning point when we became a ‘real’ business was when we moved into a warehouse, purchased a large-scale roaster, and I decided that the personal sacrifice of time and money was worth the attempt to do something of value in our community.”

Having fun @rhinomarket #PourOverSaturdays thanks @signal_orange for the pic! #PourPure #coffee #cltcoffee

(2) What is one thing you wished more people knew about coffee?

“Attention to detail makes all the difference in the world. Spending a few extra minutes to make sure you’re using fresh coffee, ground correctly, with water at the right temperature regardless of your brewing method (except K-cups), will exponentially increase your enjoyment of the result.”

(3)  What’s next for PIC?

“We’re starting to keg our cold brew for nitrogen taps, first at Old Town Public House, next at Fonta Flora and Free Range Brewing. We also now have a portable nitrogen tap for events and catering.

“A major focus coming into the remainder of the year is education, so I’ve put together a brief but detailed guide to coffee, talking about the origins and farming all the way to brewing and espresso fundamentals. Getting this out to the community is a goal of ours for this summer [or] fall.”

(4) Outside of work, what do you like to do in your free time?

“What is free time?  I’m a big craft beer fan so I like to multi-task and explore the expanding beer scene while I knock out emails or other small stuff (takes sip of NoDaRyeZ’d).”

Continuing the northern clt theme, stopped into @oldtownpublichouse for a #PureIntentions #coldbrew on nitro tap. It’s beautiful to watch and delicious to consume. #PourPure #cltcoffee

(5) What local event are you most looking forward to this summer?

“We’ve just partnered with The Mayobird and [The] Summit Room, and are hosting a four-day event coming up from July 10 through July 13.

“It includes incentives for business folks who like the comfort and WiFi of their cafe, as well as fun events for families who need a place to hang out on weekend mornings. Stay tuned to our Instagram/Facebook for details.”

So excited to announce our new partnership with @themayobird ! Looking for #local #cltcoffee in #Dilworth ? Look no further! #MayoB #PourPure   A photo posted by Pure Intentions Coffee (@pureintentionscoffee) on Jun 23, 2015 at 4:27pm PDT
