The U.S. National Whitewater Center is getting even more awesome. 4 things coming in 2016
One of my favorite memories at the U.S. National Whitewater Center is the time my brother and I were running the lake trail and found a large snapping turtle trapped on a fallen bamboo tree. Carefully we unhooked the claw and let him go on his way.
I have dozens of good memories from there, like biking the trails for date nights to sitting in Adirondack chairs at midnight with no one around.
And now, USNWC is getting even better.
Eric Osterhus, the brand manager at USNWC, filled me in on the changes.
Opening in spring 2016
Deep water solo climbing facility: Wrap your head around this – a new climbing facility with walls reaching heights of 25 feet, 35 feet and 45 feet with a 16-foot pool at the base to catch descending climbers.
This will be the only permanent deep water solo facility in the country.

Outfitter: Got gear? The 5,000 square foot Outfitter will offer an expanded selection of outdoor gear and apparel.
Kitchen: Food and beverage are getting a boost with a 5,000 square foot kitchen.

Tower: A new 100+ foot tower on Hawk Island is being built right now, the “largest addition to the facility in our 10 year history,” according to Osterhus. It will be the home of two new zip line experiences

The other zip line will be 1,400 feet. The two starting points of the zip lines will be at heights of 60 and 100 feet. A seven-segment tree top ridge course will connect the two zip lines.
Time to start building. #USNWC #2016
