Beers and pizza for Ukraine: Charlotte bars and restaurants come together to raise money
As the whole world watches the war Russia has waged against Ukraine in real time, it can be difficult to know how to help from Charlotte.
Our area bars and restaurants have started putting together fundraisers to send to Ukranian refugees through humanitarian nonprofits.

Tuesday, March 8
The Barcelona Burger Bar
Location: 500 S Main St, Mooresville, NC 28115
Neighborhood: Merino Mill
When: Tuesday, March 8 from 11:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
The Barcelona Burger and Beer Garden will donate all sales plus match that total from those days toward the contribution to World Central Kitchen.
World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit organization founded by Chef José Andrés that provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate and community crises. Its team is serving fresh meals to refugees in Ukraine, Poland and Romania fleeing the war, and will expand efforts into Moldova and Hungary.
Wednesday, March 9
Aliño Pizzeria

Amelie’s has created a vanilla-flavored macaron that’s blue and yellow like the Ukrainian flag. All proceeds from sales from the pastry will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross to support Ukraine refugees with emergency assistance, reconnecting separated families, repairing water stations and providing healthcare facilities with medical equipment. The macarons are $2.45 each.
Thursday, March 10
Brewers at 4001 Yancey
Location: 4001-A Yancey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217
Neighborhood: LoSo
When: Thursday, March 10 from 11 am to 10 pm.
Brewers at 4001 Yancey will donate $3 from every beer purchase directly to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund.
CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund is a nonprofit organization which is raising money to send food, water, and hygiene kits to Ukraine’s most vulnerable population.
