Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of African-Americans from slavery, and this 18th annual event celebrates with a full weekend of music, culture, art, food and more. On Friday, there will be a drum circle and a talent show. On Saturday, the festival will feature storytelling, a street festival, a parade, a children’s village, a fashion show and more. On Sunday, there will be another talent show, as well as a Sunday service and gospel music.

Bikin’ Dads Adventures’ family-friendly inaugural festival will feature extreme rock climbing, adult tricycle races, interactive games, K9 demonstrations from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, free movie passes from Warner Bros., and more.
Doughnuts With Dad

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend with free doughnuts, beverages and special gifts for dads (all available while supplies last). Families are also invited to take the free “Journey of Faith” tour, which documents Billy Graham’s life.

No charge for kids attending either screening of the 2012 animated fantasy/comedy “Hotel Transylvania.” Also, mark your calendar: There’ll be more free movies for kids at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through the beginning of August. Shows do fill quickly, so get there early, especially if you’re arriving with a large group.
