RenFest tickets go on sale Friday, and there are changes. What you should know.

Tickets for Carolina Renaissance Festival go on sale Friday, but festival-goers should expect to see changes to the sales process after last year’s traffic complaints.

This year, RenFest tickets will be available for purchase in advance and online only. They will also be date-specific and limited in quantity. If tickets have not sold out for a given day, they will be available at the festival’s box office while supplies last.

The festival will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 1-Nov. 20. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets are available at www.carolina.renfestinfo.com/buy-tickets. Festival organizers suggest purchasing tickets as soon as they’re available to reserve a preferred weekend. Tickets are nonrefundable and nonexchangeable.

Day passes cost $20 for children ages 5-12 and $32 for everyone ages 13 and older. Children under 4 are admitted for free.

The prices have slightly increased from last year, when tickets were $18 for children and $28 for adults.

Season passes also will be on sale for $110 for children 12 and under, and $185 for everyone else.

Parking is free.

Why did Renfest make these changes?

Both festival-goers and neighbors faced hours of traffic last year, The Charlotte Observer previously reported. Some neighbors complained that attendees were parking on residential roads without permission. By capping the number of people at each event and adding other traffic and parking measures, RenFest organizers anticipate fewer traffic problems.

What if it rains?

The festival is rain or shine. If weather conditions are deemed unsafe, tickets will be refunded.

How do I get to Renfest?

The festival is located on a 250-acre farm at N.C. 73 and Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville. The Poplar Tent Driveway has been relocated and expanded, and the Highway N.C. 73 entrance will be opened on busier festival days.
