Your guide to entertainment in Charlotte in the week ahead

J. Cole

Wed 8.12 6:30 p.m. PNC Music Pavilion, 707 Pavilion Blvd. $39-$100.40. www.livenation.com.

The Fayetteville native’s latest album, “2014 Forest Hills Drive,” recounts struggles that included growing up in the house at the address that gives the album – and his hip-hop tour with Big Sean, YG and Jeremih – its name. (He repurchased that old house, transforming it into a home for single moms.)

Brandon Flowers

Thu 8.13 8 p.m. Fillmore Charlotte, 1000 NC Music Factory Blvd. $33.58. www.livenation.com.

The Killers’ frontman is out on his own again, touring in support of the pop-soul-flavored “The Desired Effect” (his second solo album). With acclaimed Mexican rock band Rey Pila.

Garrison Keillor

Fri 8.14 7:30 p.m. Uptown Amphitheatre, 1000 NC Music Factory Blvd. $25-$95. www.livenation.com.

The “A Prairie Home Companion” syndicated radio host brings his “America The Beautiful” tour to the outdoor stage, just over five months removed from a smaller indoor show he did at Belk Theater.

Jim Gaffigan

Sat 8.15 8 p.m. Uptown Amphitheatre, 1000 NC Music Factory Blvd. $55-$69.50. www.livenation.com.

The stand-up comedian shares new material based on some of his observational humor touchstones (fatherhood and food). Note: He often sticks around after his shows to shake hands with fans.

The Comedy Get Down

Sat 8.15 8 p.m. Time Warner Cable Arena, 333 E. Trade St. $49.75-$65.75. www.ticketmaster.com.

The comedy extravaganza stars Cedric “The Entertainer,” Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley, George Lopez and Charlie Murphy. Thursday’s performance in Pensacola, Fla., was postponed with no reason given, but hopefully the Charlotte show will go on.
