Stevie Wonder coming to Time Warner Cable Arena
After an eight-year absence from Charlotte, Stevie Wonder will come to Time Warner Cable Arena Nov. 14 on the last leg of his “Songs in the Key of Life” tour. Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster, though pre-sale packages are available as of Tuesday.
The 65-year-old Wonder will play the songs on his 1976 Grammy-winning album, including “Sir Duke,” “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely” and “Pastime Paradise.” On the summer leg of the tour, he has also done material from albums before and after it – not to mention a tribute to B.B. King, after the last bluesman of the generation before Wonder had died.
Concerts have run about two to two and a half hours, and Wonder has been working without opening acts. Come prepared to sing: At various times, he has used the audience as his chorus, breaking them into male and female voices.
And should Nov. 14 be a bad date for you, you’ll be able to see him in Knoxville, Tenn., on Nov. 10 or Charlottesville, Va., on Nov. 17.
