Austin Butler, Michael B. Jordan to star in 'Miami Vice' re-make

April 23 (UPI) --Elvis alum Austin Butler and Oscar-winning Sinners actor Michael B. Jordan are set to play Florida police detectives Crockett and Tubbs in a Miami Vice re-make.

Top Gun: Maverick and F1 director Joseph Kosinski is to helm the movie Miami Vice '85.

Production is expected to begin later this year.

The Universal Pictures film is slated for theatrical release on Aug. 6, 2027.

Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas originated the characters in the iconic TV series that ran on NBC from 1984 to 1989.

It was re-made as a then-contemporary film in 2006, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.
