Best-Selling Author's Popular Book Is Named the Most-Streamed Audiobook of All Time on Spotify

Fans just can't seem to get enough of A Court of Thorns and Roses.

The 2015 best-selling novel by Sarah J. Maas has been named Spotify's Most Streamed Audiobook of All Time, according to new data released by the streaming platform on April 23.

In honor of Spotify's 20th anniversary celebration, the platform unveiled a series of "Top 20" lists ranking what fans have listened to the most, including the 20 most-streamed audiobooks in premium plans (Audiobooks aren't included with free plans on Spotify.)

Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses earned the No. 1 spot on the list, followed by The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien's at No. 2 and Rebecca Yarros' Fourth Wing at No. 3.

It's likely no surprise to readers (or listeners) to see A Court of Thorns and Roses at the top of Spotify's most-streamed audiobooks. Published in 2015, the bestselling fantasy romance novel is the first book in the highly-popular series by Maas (often shortened to the "ACOTAR" series), which has turned into a literary phenomenon.

The first ACOTAR book is the most popular book published in the year 2015 on Goodreads, which ranks books most frequently added to Goodreads members' shelves (and is updated weekly.) A Court of Thorns and Roses is also included on the platform's most-read books in the last 12 months, ranking at No. 29.

So far, Maas has followed up the first novel with four sequel books: A Court of Mist and Fury (2016), A Court of Wings and Ruin (2017), A Court of Frost and Starlight (2018) and A Court of Silver Flames (2021) - three of which also made Spotify's Top 20 list of the most-streamed audiobooks.
